In this task I will provide a rationale
for the event my group carried out. A rationale is [i]defining
the fundamental reasons for a course of action, belief.
In our group project we chose a PS3 game
console because a member in our group already owned one. So it was a resource
that didn’t cost us anything.
In the beginning stages we wanted to have
a physical football tournament. However after much consideration we changed our
idea to just have a console. The reason for this is because there would be
fewer risks that would have needed to be taken down. It’s very time consuming –
finding a venue, check availability/price. Another group had also wanted to do
a football tournament also and it had never been done before by any other
group. This was a unique form of event. Using our own resources (PS3) meant
that the cost inevitably was 0. All our group had to do was contribute to
refreshments that were going to be provided at the event. This meant that, even
if one person came to our event, we would have made a profit. On the other hand
a physical tournament would have made it hard for our group to break even.
Event was on the 9th June because;
most of the college lessons had finished so most rooms were empty. There were scheduled
exams on the 2nd, 5th, and 8th. So these days
were exempt. We had to confirm use of these venues by contacting Rebecca
Greenwood; who was in charge of allowing us to use the rooms in the college.
We charged each player 50p because it was
the price range that the survey that we took – which was most popular
We promoted the event through mainly
posters because it was easy and cheap. We could post them anywhere in the college.
The reason why I think it was affective at attracting customers to our event is
because we only used that form of promotion; so it means that attendees were
attended our event because of the quality of the posters. Having this form of
promotion can sometimes be limiting because it’s not direct. Like somebody
sending you a personal email, or phone call. It’s vaguer- this way not always
getting potential attendees attention. Our group strategically placed these
posters in areas were most people will see them; i.e. lifts, in front of
classroom doors and staircase corridors.
